Position Objectives:

Position:  Utility Worker

Full time position under direct supervision of Village Administrator

 

Wage:  $18.15 - $30.49

Education:  Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade

                    Possession of a valid Ohio CDL Class B license encouraged

Experience: Public utilities preferred

Bondable: n/a

Purpose:  To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Duties include but are not limited to:  Utility workers perform routine maintenance activities in a variety of work environments.  Because the job usually requires a lot of lifting and climbing, a Utility Worker must be in good physical condition.  Utility Workers also have to operate maintenance equipment and vehicles, making a valid driver’s license essential for many jobs as well as a commercial CDL license.

  • Responsible for all cleaning, patching and repairing of all Village roadways
  • Replace and repair all signage in the Village
  • Operate and maintain all Village equipment and work areas.
  • Collection of leaves during fall cleanup and mowing grass throughout town.
  • Plowing, salting and removal of snow on all Village roadways.
  • Ability to lift up to 100+ pounds.
  • Must follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Have working knowledge of the water system, repair and installation of water meters and remotes, water tower operations, location of lines and fire hydrants.
  • Make needed purchases with approval of Village Administrator and Fiscal Officer with purchase order.
  • Help all other departments, in the Village, as needed.

  • Work in weather conditions of extreme heat and cold and to tolerate dust, pollen wind, rain, and snow.
  • Perform manual labor on a daily basis.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Village.
  • Work well under pressure, be punctual, and have regular attendance to meet established deadlines.
  • Understand and carry out written and oral directions.
  • Meet departmental standards for both quantity and accuracy of work

 

Necessary Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening and physical in addition to a background check.
  • Commitment to being on call 24/7 year-round
