W. Broadway St. Bridge Project - Walnut Street Railroad Crossing Closure

W. Broadway St. Bridge Project - Walnut Street Railroad Crossing Closure

The Village of Plymouth, in coordination with the Ohio Rail Development Commission, is proposing a project that will start the process of replacing the closed W. Broadway St. bridge over the Ashland Railway. As a part of the project, the Village will close the railroad crossing at Walnut St. upon completion of a replacement bridge on W. Broadway St.
As incentive for the planned closure of Walnut St., the Rail Commission will provide up to $250,000 to the Village for the design and engineering of the bridge replacement. The Village is currently working with the Richland County Engineer’s Office to prepare a funding application to ODOT’s Municipal Bridge Program for the construction of a replacement bridge on W. Broadway St.
The Walnut St. railroad crossing will be closed to all roadway traffic once the new W. Broadway St. bridge is completed. Traffic will be detoured via Hoffman St. to the north or the new W. Broadway bridge to the south. A more detailed project timeline will be developed once funding for the construction of a replacement bridge is secured.
